5 Resolution Tips

new years resolutions countdown clock

January 1st 00:00am. Auld Lang Syne, fireworks, cheers and champagne.

New year, new start, new you and New Year’s resolutions!

”This year I’m going to get organised!”

Has this ever been a resolution you’ve attempted to keep? It could probably make the top ten of common resolutions around the world.

Everyone starts the New Year with the best of intentions to make the coming year better than the one before. The drive and optimism the world has as the clock strikes midnight is a great sight to behold.

It’s your chance to make a change. However beware of the February fall.

We march through January, sticking to our guns but by February it becomes too much and keeping your resolutions fail to see the month of March putting all that effort to waste.

THE QUESTION IS ‘HOW DO YOU STICK TO YOUR RESOLUTION?’

We’ll give you 5 easy tips to help you keep that New Year’s resolution to get you and your business organised.

1. START SMALL (BITE SIZE CHUNKS)

The downfall of many resolutions, organisational or not, is taking on too much at once and expecting brilliant results. Take it one step at a time, pick an area you think that needs the most work and start there. Working away at your goal piece by piece will help you see better results in keeping your resolution. Trying to fix everything will not only drive you insane but will make you lose the motivation to continue.

2. MAKE IT A HABIT

Make sure to work on keeping your resolution a little bit everyday. Whether it’s just paperwork in your chosen area or recapping stuff you’ve already completed, working on your task everyday helps. They say it takes on average 66 days to form a habit (being organised will never be a bad one.)

3. DON’T CUT CORNERS

There will always be the temptation to save a little time and skip things out. Our advice? Don’t do it! Putting the effort into keeping your resolution now pays off in the long run and you won’t end up wishing you’d done things right the first time.

4. FIGURE OUT WHAT WORKS BEST

Over at Pro-Cloud they know that every business is different and what works for one won’t work for another. So if you try a process that doesn’t work how you’d like it to then step back and try something new. You won’t be taking steps backwards in trying to organise your business, it’s all part of development and adds to Tip #1. Having a process that works better and easier for you will help you stick with organising business affairs.

5. ASK FOR HELP

Finally, don’t be afraid to ask for help. Your colleagues have great ideas too and external companies can offer new perspective. They’re able to take the initial work you’ve done and elevate it to the next level where you can manage your operations more effectively. Collaboration and sharing the load can get you over that last hurdle of keeping your resolution.

The New Year is a great way of kick-starting your motivation but these tips can apply whenever you’re ready to make a business change.

Identifying where your business could be improved by clearer organisational and management processes is half the battle.
